Arsenic (III) Detection with Underpotential Deposition and Anodic Stripping Voltammetry

We report a stripping voltammetric method for the detection of aqueous As(III) using Pt macroelectrode or nanoparticle-modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) which, novelly, is based on underpotential deposition As atoms. The consists pre-concentration reductive step to accumulate ad-atoms onto Pt, followed by linear sweep voltammetry (LSV). It shown that peak improves response at low concentrations as compared analogous measurements bulk As. No interference was seen from Cu(II) realistic although high chloride inhibited ad-atoms. A found concentration range 0.05 1 ?M both types with visually clear signal recorded (4 ppb), suggesting this has practical value noting WHO limit 0.13 (10 ppb) safe drinking water.
